Vault: April

I have an Aunt in New York who has a piano. When I visit I always make time for the ivories — playing piano is one of my favorite things to do. This somewhat well defined, somewhat unfinished piece started with some simple piano voicing and evolved into a couple of piano overdubs … some of the overdubs could have been done easily by a good player I’m sure, but I haven’t quite gotten the hang of hand independency.

It was April of 2007 and I have a vague recollection of it raining and being at night. I got a hold of some storm sounds to hammer that home, and whipped up a Garageband session (my tool of choice at the time) complete with Apple Loop drums which I’ve never had an opportunity to replace. This is a very straightforward tune, but for me there’s always been something about this kind of downward motion that I find appealing. There’s a piano ostinato that is established and eventually mimicked by a synth, and that’s really about it!

Maybe it’s a little offtopic with this post, but the song you posted here forced me to this.

I bought your album Level last year. And I keep listening to it. Here’s why.

What I like about your music: you don’t just stay at the realy good level of technique you have. You just never stop to go au dela what it’s possible to do with things. It’s all about creativity, but creativity isn’t all. To acheive an interresting work piece, it must have the intent to be understood (in any manners, the intent could be to not be understood, if I can grab that, it’s interesting I think).

To me your music have a great level of significance, it creates a great ambiance, and sounds unlike anything I’ve heard before in chipmusic, or even music in general. You acheive to build impressive music textures, you make use of realy creative, uncommon and interresting rythm patterns. The melodies have a great level of tension without being too anoying, I never *realy* get used to them. I listen to a lot of music, almost every styles, I just come back to albums that realy stands out. Level is among those. Brilliant.

I’m looking forward your next stuff!

    Good day ;)
