			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Back in 2007 I was hired by <a href="http://www.uievolution.com">UIEvolution</a> (they&#8217;ve been gracious enough to allow me to share this material) to write 16 one minute loops of general MIDI music for a puzzle game. Over a span of about three months I wrote these tracks, which generally speaking have very little specific direction, except a request to make them somewhat dancy.</p>

<p>This track I&#8217;m sharing is the eighth track, and probably one of the better ones of the bunch. Given the requirements I took the opportunity to use my favorite tool at the time <a href="http://www.tabledit.com/">Tabledit</a> (MIDI Guitar Tablature Editor Software) to create all of the music. This was one of the first game-related projects I ever took on, and the experience helped at least somewhat in getting me interested in writing for games in general. Since then I haven&#8217;t really looked back. <p>For the last year and a half I&#8217;ve had the pleasure of working on music and sound for &#8220;High Strangeness&#8221;, a sci-fi, retro-styled RPG concocted by my friend Steve Jenkins. The process has been deliberate but thoroughly enjoyable, and we&#8217;re finally starting to make some real progress. By the time the game is done I should have somewhere around 30 minutes worth of music written which is exciting in and of itself.</p>
<p>Not too long ago we decided to make the game a <a href="http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/251446771/high-strangeness-a-12-bit-action-adventure-video-game">Kickstarter</a> project so that we could truly do what we wanted to do: release the game on XNA (XBox Live Community Games) and give away some totally awesome stuff, including a short run of CDs featuring the game&#8217;s soundtrack!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I recently devoted my musical abilities to a small, retro style platformer developed by <a href="http://www.16x16.org">16&#215;16</a> for the Procedural Generation Competition over at <a href="http://www.tigsource.com">TIGSource</a>, a consistent and excellent source for all that is independent gaming.</p>

<p>Here&#8217;s a brief excerpt written by the developer about the story of the game: &#8220;A cargo airplane crashed somewhere above the wast areas of the Amita range. It was carrying a large shipment of beagles headed to the CutLab, a huge animal testing facility.</p>
<p>The Lab is upset about losing it&#8217;s precious testing material and is deploying a biohazard division determined to reclaim it&#8217;s property. They operate under the strict orders: seize the usable specimens, kill the rest.</p>
<p>We&#8217;re sending three of our elite animal rights activists to rescue as many dogs as possible before the Lab&#8217;s grunts confine them back to the life of endless misery.&#8221;</p>
