Over the next 30 days I’ll be taking part in an experiment called “30 Songs in 30 Days“, in which I write 30 songs, in 30 days! What makes this such a useful opportunity (especially for someone like me) is that the lack of time forces you to be swift and not latch onto your music too much; I have a tendency of being a perfectionist, but when you have to output this much content you can’t afford to be, unless you want to go insane.
I’ll be naming each track after an event in history that occurred on that day. The first track is called “Malbone Street Wreck”, named after the 1918 rapid transit accident, the deadliest in U.S. history. At least 93 people died that day. I dedicate today’s experiment to their memory!
For this track I laid down about a minute of drum improvisation, and then added musical elements around it afterwards. As a result my drum improvisation dictates the form of the song. This is an approach I don’t often take and as such I felt it a worthy experiment to try. Enjoy!

Excellent idea to participate in this project, Disasterpeace. Love the Battletoads vibe of your first tune. Can’t wait to hear the next twenty-nine!
This is going to be an awesome month! Can’t wait for the next tune.
